The AMBA & BGA Latin American Conference for Deans and Directors will be held in Rio de Janeiro, Brazil, from Wednesday 25th to Friday 27th September 2024. This unmissable gathering of business school leaders from across Latin America is organized to address pressing issues in business education.
Andrew Main Wilson, CEO of AMBA & BGA, gives us more details about this great event.

Andrew Main Wilson

Faced with the development of technology, the use of data and artificial intelligence, what is your opinion on the development of business schools in Latin America?

One quality I have always admired in our AMBA & BGA Latin America business schools is their passion for understanding how to best develop both their content and their teaching methods.

Our business schools are based in more than 80 countries around the world and almost all of them took advantage of technology very quickly when faced with the threats created by Covid, introducing online learning as the predominant mode of teaching for two years. I see the same hunger to understand how AI can be leveraged in Latin American schools to benefit both teachers and students.

One of the topics to be discussed at the AMBA conference is the impact of AI on executive education – what can you tell us about this?

At the conference, while we recognise the importance of understanding the dangers and limitations of AI, we will focus primarily on the positive and exciting opportunities created by AI, ranging from its intelligent use to strengthen marketing campaigns to recruit students, supporting the quality of teaching and programme content, and supporting students in research and the delivery of essays and theses.

Who should attend the event?

Deans, directors, associate deans and senior managers from business schools responsible for key departments such as marketing, student recruitment and programme management.

Delegates who have already booked include 20 senior executives from AMBA and BGA business schools in China. Chinese business schools are very interested in forming partnerships with Latin American business schools, so the conference is a unique opportunity to discuss potential relationships with some of the best business schools in China.

What is the main value of attending the event?

Our AMBA and BGA Deans and Directors Conference for Latin America will discuss many of the key issues that will impact the future development of Latin American business schools over the next five years. Many of the deans of the most prestigious schools in the region have already booked to attend the event, so it is not only cutting-edge content, but also a valuable and insightful opportunity to network with some of the most experienced leaders in the industry.

The delegate price includes two magnificent dinners in elegant, high-quality venues, so the opportunities for personal and professional networking are excellent. The choice of city is also inspiring: I have visited 300 cities in 179 different countries and Rio is one of my top 5 cities to draw inspiration from, anywhere in the world.
