FROM PERU TO PARIS: Why Antonio Alonso chose the ESSEC Global MBA

Antonio Alonso, Marketing Moteurs Baudouin, MBA ESSEC Business School, France

“When I decided to do an MBA, I found myself stuck deciding between whether to go to the USA or Europe. After looking at the programs of the schools I was interested in applying, I saw that ESSEC’s Global MBA was the best for me. What appealed to me the most about the Global MBA was that the program would consist of a small group of international candidates and that it would take place not only in Paris, but also in Singapore, giving me the international exposure that I was looking for in an MBA. To me, it was very important to do my studies in a city or cities that would make me step outside of my comfort zone and at the same time be important global cities. ESSEC’s Global MBA program surpassed my expectations! The MBA provided a platform where the class, made up of 30 amazing people from all over the world, could share experiences and discuss topics such as understanding key drivers in the business world, what it takes to become a successful leader, how to make the tough decisions that make positive impacts on people and organizations, and how to work with different cultural backgrounds. It was a great melting pot of ideas and knowledge. On top of this, the experience of living both in Paris and Singapore, allowed me to obtain new points of views, shape my career path, and more importantly, it made me hungry to remain in a global environment. Finally, the ESSEC MBA gave me the skills to break into the French job market and continue my career in marketing. I acquired a deep understanding of market research and project management, skills that allowed me to work in Paris in big companies such as Publicis Groupe, as well as Transatel, one of Europe’s leading MVNOs. I recently moved to the South of France, joining the marketing team at Moteurs Baudouin, a more than 100 year old French Marine engine manufacturer. It is thanks to ESSEC and its MBA that I obtained the skills that have allowed me to propel my marketing career”.
